Elizabeth Pierri

Professor Pierri received her BA in Health and Society from the University of Rochester and her MFS from George Washington University with a concentration in Crime Scene Investigations.  Professor Pierri retired after almost 25 years in federal law enforcement as the Deputy Director of Operational Support at the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS).  She served at NCIS as a Special Agent in Criminal Investigations, Economic Crimes, and Counterintelligence, with numerous leadership positions in NCIS forensics.  She conducted major felony investigations throughout her career in NCIS’ worldwide locations such as Japan, Italy, Gabon, Spain, Iraq, Afghanistan, and Bahrain.  She has extensive experience in major cases with extensive work in homicide investigation and human remains recovery, bloodstain pattern analysis, crime scene analysis and reconstruction, forensic pathology and wound interpretation, crime scene investigation, advanced scene documentation, shooting trajectory reconstruction, associated expert witness testimony.  Her research interests and prior efforts include Bloodstains on Military Uniforms, Validation of Synthetic Blood Products, and Cataloguing of Entomology Specimens in Japan where U.S. Service Members are assigned.  She previously served as an Adjunct Professor at GW, providing instruction for almost 10 years in Medicolegal Death Investigation and Bloodstain Pattern Analysis.  She previously served as a member of the OSAC Bloodstain Pattern Analysis Subcommittee and received certifications as a Certified Fraud Examiner, Law Enforcement Instructor Trainer, Law Enforcement Physical Fitness Coordinator, Law Enforcement Critical Incident Manager, and Human Resources Ethics and Compliance.
